In Search of Answers

In a world such as ours, full of political, environmental, social and physical problems, millions of people are left with unanswered questions.

Drug addiction, for example, is a plague of epidemic proportions that lies at the root of many other societal issues.  It has been the traditional practice to label addiction as a disease, leaving individuals hopelessly infected for life, which strips a person of the responsibility of his or her actions and leaves justification and apathy in its stead.

Many people accept that label as their fate and fight every day to live a somewhat normal life, usually with newly prescribed drugs to curb symptoms such as anxiety and depression; others don't stop there and continue their search for answers.

American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard did extensive research in the field of drug rehabilitation, and his findings and practices in this area are the basis for the Narconon® Drug Rehabilitation and Education Program.  One observation was that drug users begin taking drugs to solve some sort of problem, be it mental or physical pain or stress.

In finding that the drug seemingly relieves that pain or stress, the person continues to use the drug and thus becomes addicted.  In September of 1969, Hubbard wrote this on the subject of addiction:

"The addict has been found not to want to be an addict, but is driven by pain and environmental hopelessness.  As soon as an addict can feel healthier and more competent mentally and physically without drugs than he does on drugs, he ceases to require drugs."

It is this premise that has freed thousands of individuals from addiction as well as the continued lasting affects of drug residues, which store inside a person's body long after use ceases.  Drug use and addiction is not a new problem, but until governments and institutions learn and use workable and effective methodology instead of what has been accepted as the norm, it will continue to be one of the largest problems.

Narconon Arrowhead is a non-profit public benefit corporation and is the largest residential drug rehabilitation and education facility in the worldwide network of Narconon organizations.  Many thousands of people turn to Narconon Arrowhead in search of answers to their questions regarding addiction.

Narconon Arrowhead holds weekly graduation ceremonies where individuals on or completing the program have an opportunity to share realizations and successes from their studies and experiences on the program.  At last week's graduation, a 39 year-old male exclaimed, "For years I've been trying to beat my crack addiction, but the two other programs I tried told me it was a disease and that I'd always be an addict.

Through my stay here I've learned that I am not just responsible for the good things that I do, but the bad things as well, and that includes taking drugs."  He continued to say, "I owe my sobriety to myself, but I don't think I would've realized that if it weren't for Narconon."

Drug addiction can be overcome.  Narconon isn't the only way to do it, but it certainly is one of the most effective.  Human beings truly have the power to do whatever they set out to accomplish, and becoming sober, happy and prosperous is included.
