National Leadership Forum to Focus on Methamphetamine

Methamphetamine is one of the nation's fastest growing drugs of abuse and now more than a million Americans are addicted to the highly debilitating substance.

Due to the increased prevalence throughout the U.S., meth use and manufacturing will be a featured topic at the upcoming National Leadership Forum hosted by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) in Washington, D.C. early next month.

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association developed a program called Meth Watch to target the sales and theft of pseudoephedrine, which is the main ingredient in methamphetamine.  Originating in Kansas, the program now operates in a dozen states and helps with meth lab seizures, prevents small meth lab production as well as the theft of pseudoephedrine and joins retailers and law enforcement in a collaborative effort.

The overall number of meth lab busts has increased exponentially across the nation in recent years.  The number of meth labs found and dismantled has doubled and in some states tripled over the previous year.  An alarming number of the individuals that have been arrested and convicted for meth manufacturing and distribution are repeat offenders.  Also alarming is the high recidivism rate of meth addicts in recovery.  Some treatment providers report as high as 90% of the meth addicts in treatment programs relapse after completion.

Drug rehabilitation programs in general are having a difficult time in effectively dealing with methamphetamine addiction.  However, there is one organization that is rapidly gaining national attention for its effectiveness in treating meth addiction is Narconon Arrowhead.

Narconon attributes its success to the organization's use of the drug-free rehabilitation technology researched and developed by American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard.  Narconon's approach replaces vital nutrients stripped by drug use, dry-heat sauna detoxification therapy and a series of life skills courses that assists addicts in regaining their self respect and teaches them how lead a productive drug-free life and rejoin society as contributing members.

There are hundreds of former meth addicts that are now living healthy lives again due to completing the program at Narconon Arrowhead.  To find out more about meth or the Narconon® Drug Rehabilitation and Education Program, call 1-800-468-6933 today or log on to www.methamphetamineaddiction.com.
