One of Nation?s Premier Rehabs Celebrates Recovery Month, Anniversary

CANADIAN, Okla. - The new 2002 National Survey on Drug Use and Health was released as part of the kick-off for the 14th annual National Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Month (Recovery Month) observance.

This survey found that there were more than 20 million current drug users in the United States.  Of this number only about 3 million people received some sort of treatment for their addiction, which is a staggering figure.

According to Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson in a release issued by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "We need to enact President Bush's Access to Recovery Program to provide treatment to those who seek to recover from addiction and move on to a better life.  That is what Recovery Month is all about."

In addition to making effective programs more available to those in need, funding for new initiatives must demand results to ensure people are being rehabilitated.  Full recovery is possible and relapse does not have to be a part of the process.

In celebration of lives saved from the downward spiral of drug addiction, Narconon Arrowhead is hosting a large event on September 20th in observance of National Recovery Month as well as the anniversary of its new facility.  The highly successful program has graduated more than 2,800 individuals from across the United States and several other countries.

Of these graduates, approximately 70% remain drug-free and productive in life again using the effective drug rehabilitation methodology of American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, which is much greater than the national average.

With around 1,500 people expected in attendance, speakers for the event include District Attorney Chris Wilson, State Senator Richard Lerblance, Executive Director of the statewide recovery advocacy group Donna Woods, President of Narconon Arrowhead Luke Catton, President of Narconon International Clark Carr, and longtime friend and a celebrity supporter of the Narconon Program, to be announced.

Narconon Arrowhead is one of the nation's premier drug rehabilitation and education facilities and is the largest in the international network of Narconon programs now operating in 36 countries.

According to Derek, a Narconon graduate from Massachusetts, "I was a heroin and pain killer addict for over 10 years. My family had given up on me and thought I was going to die and I felt that same way. I finally realized that I was finished if I did not get some help, and that is when my family found Narconon.

I've been clean for almost three years now and not only did the program give me a newfound outlook on life but it also helped me to achieve my full potential in life. All my relationships are much better and I have much better communication with the ones I love."

"Results is what drives our rapid expansion and increased demand," remarks Narconon Arrowhead President Luke Catton, "Governments, communities and individuals recognize that effectiveness and a drug-free approach is the best way to restore addicts to becoming themselves again, the way they were before ever using drugs."

Catton says that the event is open to anyone wanting to attend and that the theme for the evening is "A Community That Pulls Together Can Make A Better Society For All," which is a quote from Mr. Hubbard.  The celebration begins with a free barbecue dinner at 5:30 and is followed by special guest speakers, community awards and live musical entertainment by the internationally-acclaimed Jive Aces.

Drug Addiction Rehab - Success Story
Today, I spoke with my father and he was very open to my communication. It is so wonderful to see how this drug rehab program has helped me regain some respect from my family. They are proud of what I’m doing and how I’m growing with the help of the technology. He no longer seems reserved when I share with him. It is because he sees that I’m running strong with the ball that has been passed on to me. G.G.
