Crack

Crack cocaine is a rock crystal form of cocaine that is highly addictive. It is usually sole in a rock form and addicts use the drug by heating it and smoking it. The term "crack" refers to the crackling sound heard when it is heated. In 2004, 7.8 million Americans aged 12 and over reported lifetime use of crack.

Approximately 100 years after cocaine entered into use, a new variation of the substance emerged. This substance, crack, became enormously popular in the mid-1980s due in part to its almost immediate high and the fact that it is inexpensive to produce and buy.

Crack-cocaine delivers more of an intense feeling of pleasure than powder cocaine. But the initial short feeling of euphoria is then followed by a crash where the user will feel extreme fatigue, depression irritability and paranoia. The user will develop immediate dependence to the drug and the user will want to get more and more of the drug to experience that initial high.

As the person uses more and more crack their physical health will deteriorate and the person may become severely depressed, paranoid and in some cases exhibit symptoms of paranoid psychosis.

When I first came through the doors of Narconon Arrowhead drug and alcohol treatment center, I wasn’t a bit sure what to expect. I had no idea what I was even doing here or needed to get from the program. I came here all alone and wondering. The past four months have had their ups and downs for me. But my ups have continually been higher and my lows never seemed to go as low each time. I’m to the point now where my highs are constantly very high and my lows don’t exist. I’m sure I now know the answers to all my questions. I’m now leaving the drug rehab program through the same doors I entered. This time, however, I’m not at all wondering.
