NARCONON CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF FIGHTING DRUG ABUSE IN OKLAHOMAOn Saturday, September 18th at the McAlester Expo Center in McAlester, Oklahoma Narconon Arrowhead, one of the nation's fastest growing drug rehabilitation and education centers will celebrate 15 years of fighting drug abuse in Oklahoma. The theme of this year's event celebration is New Lives, Reunited Families, and Stronger Communities.Narconon of Oklahoma, Inc (dba) Narconon Arrowhead set up operations in northern Oklahoma in September of 1989. Since that time the center has graduated over 2,000 people from its successful drug rehabilitation program. In August of 2001 Narconon moved to the former site of the Arrowhead State Lodge in Pittsburg County and became part of the Lake Eufaula area community. In addition to offering its effective drug rehabilitation program to people from all over the state and the nation, Narconon Arrowhead drug education lecturers have delivered education and prevention programs to over 120,000 youth throughout the region in the last few years. According to Gary W. Smith, CEO of Narconon Arrowhead, "This year's celebration is in recognition of Arrowhead's staff of 150 dedicated people and their accomplishments and successes in helping save lives and families from drug addiction." The month of September is also National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, which is an annual observance sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is now in its 15th year as well. "In order to make a positive impact," continues Smith, "it is important for all agencies, families and communities to continue to help people overcome addiction. It takes a combined effort." The doors for the event open at 4:45 p.m. at the McAlester Expo Center and all are welcome to attend. A traditional Oklahoma barbecue dinner will begin serving at 5:30 p.m. and the main event will begin at 6:00 p.m. Live musical entertainment will be performed by the internationally acclaimed Jive Aces.
