Narconon Donates Books to JBCCFollowing up on an article in the News Capital & Democrat from last month, Narconon Arrowhead offers donates books for the Jackie E. Brannon Correctional Center Leisure Library in McAlester. As the international Narconon network continues to expand because of its effectiveness (now in 36 countries), materials are being made available to the public to learn about its successful methods. Arrowhead President Luke Catton delivered three books to the News Capital & Democrat, two of them published by Narconon, for the JBCC library. "The Narconon program was founded by an Arizona State Penitentiary inmate in 1966 named William Benitez," explained Catton, "It just makes sense to have the knowledge available to inmates today." Substance abuse statistics from around the world are staggering. Drug use is also the underlying factor in many of today's societal problems including, crime, child abuse, spread of HIV and other diseases, auto accidents and much more. Entire nations are driven to apathy concerning the subject of drug addiction due to a lack of workable solutions or, in some cases, very few rehabilitation centers at all to even begin to address the issue. One of the books donated is a new release by Narconon Arrowhead and provides insight into the problem of drug and alcohol addiction. Helping Someone Overcome Addiction is filled with useful information on the devastating cycle of addiction and the reasons why it affects so many people and causes so much loss. The book explains simple, basic truths about what occurs when and individual uses drugs. The very first step to overcoming addiction is to get the addict off the drugs and through the withdrawal stage. Drug use results in dramatic vitamin and mineral deficiencies in the body. It is only when a person stops taking the drug that the physical pain and emotional distress caused by these deficiencies become evident, so much so that seemingly the only solution for the addict is to take more of the drug. The Narconon First Step book teaches people how to help someone through withdrawal by applying nutritional supplements and exercises that promote extroversion. These steps, with the right combination and sequence, assists the addict through what could normally be an extremely difficult process in usually less time more comfortably. The third book donated by Narconon is called The Way To Happiness. It is simply a common sense guide to better living that was written by Mr. Hubbard. This book is actually used throughout the world in many prison systems to help bring morality back to criminals. Narconon has a sister organization called Criminon, which uses much of the same technology in correctional facility settings. According to Catton, "The information in these books helps create a good foundation for being drug-free and ethical, if applied. It is part of what has made our program so successful for over three decades." |
