Narconon Graduates Celebrate Recovery Month

Hundreds of staff, students and family members end the month off with a celebration of successful recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions.

On September 23rd, Narconon centers around the U.S. celebrated National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month with special student graduation ceremonies.  The events not only celebrated those currently completing their recovery programs, but also many graduates came back to share their successes of now living drug-free lives thanks to the Narconon® Drug Rehabilitation Program.

At one Narconon center, 150 students, staff, graduates and family members gathered together for their event.  The staff gave a short briefing about National Recovery Month and how there are many people around the world who have successfully recovered from drug addiction.

"We know that there are people at other Narconon centers around the U.S. participating in graduations just like this one," one staff member told the audience.  She then went on to explain that she and her fellow staff, many having also recovered, are dedicated to helping others because they know there is a way out of the trap of addiction.

Other centers held similar events with staff and students speaking out with their stories of successful recovery, including at the largest center of the network and international training facility, Narconon Arrowhead.

The Narconon drug rehabilitation program has shown that addiction can be overcome by using effective drug-free techniques developed by American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard. Approximately three out of four Narconon graduates go on to lead drug-free, ethical and productive lives.

September was the 16th annual National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. Sponsored by the federal government\s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), this year\'s theme was "Join the Voices for Recovery: Healing Lives, Families, and Communities", which was an opportunity to celebrate the positive impact of treating alcohol and drug use in communities.

Recovery Month highlights the benefits to the community and society of substance abuse treatment, acknowledges the contributions of treatment providers, and promotes the message that recovery from substance abuse in all its forms is possible. Each September, thousands of treatment programs, recovered addicts and supporters gather to hold events and increase awareness.
