Narconon Releases Booklet, Dispels False Information About Drugs

For the past 37 years Narconon, meaning "narcotics ? none" or "no drugs", has been helping people to recover from drug addiction throughout the world.  As we all know, the world's number one societal problem cannot be overcome unless there are effective prevention programs and materials to aide true rehabilitation.

In a statement issued to the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Treasury and Related Agencies, John P. Walters Director of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) spoke of the advances in anti-drug campaigns.  He cited that a survey completed last year by the Partnership for a Drug-Free America showed that 40% of teens say that anti-drug advertising makes them less likely to try or use drugs.

Director Walters also said, "Our efforts to reduce substance abuse in America have been far-reaching and diverse."  This is part of the ONDCP's plan to cut drug use by 10 percent in two years and 25 percent in five years.

Narconon shares these ambitious goals and knows that even greater results can be achieved by helping to dispel the false information in our society regarding drugs.  That is where the booklet, "10 Things Your Friends May Not Know About Drugs" comes in.  This booklet is designed to strip off the twisted rumors, misconceptions and "selling techniques" used by other drug users or dealers.

The first page of the booklet has ten true or false questions asking, "Can you pass this drug test?"  The ten points are then answered and explained in simple terms that anyone can learn and use.  This includes such false statements such as:  "Ecstasy is safer than other drugs," "Marijuana isn't harmful," and "Drugs stay in the body for one day."

This booklet is in high demand and now it is available in a free downloadable format at www.narconon-drug-education.com, brought to you by Narconon Arrowhead.  The end of the booklet has a section on what you can do to help solve the problem of addiction as well as some additional questions and answers about drugs.

Narconon's drug prevention program has gotten this booklet into the hands of hundreds of thousands of school-aged kids in the U.S. alone, and nearly one million worldwide.  The books have been printed not only in English, but Spanish, Arabic, Italian, Taiwanese, French, Swedish, German and Chinese as well to reach tens of countries in several continents.

Many points of the misinformation run rampant in the adult population as well.  This is an opportunity to find out the truth about drugs and to add sanity to our environment.  According to the President of Narconon Arrowhead Luke Catton, "Narconon's simple goal is the total eradication of substance abuse, and our ever-increasing staff is dedicated to making this happen."  When asked if he thought this goal was possible, Catton replied with, "Someday it would be nice to not have to work in this field, but this is our purpose and if achieved, then the majority of the world's other problems will go too.  So call me an idealist, but yes I think it can be done."

Narconon was founded by William Benitez in Arizona State Prison in 1966 to help get fellow inmates off heroin.  Since then, the effective program that uses technology developed by L. Ron Hubbard has grown to more than 120 groups in 35 countries and continues to expand due to the results that are achieved through its life-saving education and rehabilitation.  If you or someone you love needs help for drug or alcohol addiction, call 1-800-468-6933.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center – Success Story
I have just completed the Narconon Arrowhead Drug and Alcohol Rehab program! It’s been a long and sometimes difficult path, but many things worth having in life are not easy. This has taught me how to be myself again. I developed and learned the skills needed not only to be a good son and parent to my kids but to live without the need to get high. That is the greatest thing I could every hope for. B.W.
