Drug Rehab Mississippi

Mississippi\s need for drug rehab:  During 2004, the DEA reported making 292 arrests for drug violations in Mississippi.  In 2003, there were 10,697 drug arrests and 875 were youth under the age of 18.  Illicit drug use by all ages in Mississippi is 6.56% of people who have used any type of illicit drugs in the past month of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health was conducted.  Also, 1.84% of the population in Mississippi reported past year dependence on illicit drugs.  As this trend continues to increase, there is a need for drug rehab programs in Mississippi.

Mississippi\'s need for cocaine addiction treatment:  Cocaine, particulary crack, is considered to be Mississippi\'s biggest drug threat.  A total of 2.05% of the entire population in Mississippi has abused cocaine at least once in their lifetime and the highest age group for cocaine abuse is 18-25.  The survey also indicates 4.8% of 9th graders, 5.3% of 10th graders, 5.8% of 11th graders, and 7.3% of 12th graders have used cocaine at least once.  As these figures continue to incline, there is a great demand for cocaine addiction treatment in Mississippi.

Mississippi\'s need for methamphetamine drug rehab:  The increase in methamphetamine abuse and manufacutring follows closely behind cocaine as the biggest drug threat to Mississippi.  Methamphetamine drug rehab centers are needed to stop this threat in Mississippi.  The crystalline form of methamphetamine, known as ice, glass, or crystal is gaining popularity.  The theft of precursor chemicals has increased greatly in the state, including over-the-counter, pseudoephedrine.  Teen methamphetamine abuse continues to rise as 5.7% of 9th graders, 6.8% of 10th graders, 7.9% of 11th graders, and 7.0% of 12th graders have used methamphetamine at least once in their lifetime.  In 2004, Federal agencies seized a total of 1,326 methamphetamine labs between 2000-2004.

Mississippi\'s need for marijuana addiction treatment:  Marijuana is the drug of choice and most widely abused drug among users in Mississippi and there is a demand for marijuana addiction treatment.  Even though 49.33% of the total population in Mississippi view smoking marijuana once a month holds a great risk, 4.64% of the population have used marijuana in the past month to the survey.  Approximately 4.4% of Mississippi high school students surveyed in 2003 reported using marijuana on school property within the past month.  Also, more than 22% of Mississippi high school students surveyed in 2003 reported that they have been offered, sold, or given illicit drugs on school property within the past year including marijuana.  As teen marijuana abuse increases in Mississippi, 16.4% of Mississippi middle school students surveyed in 2003 reported using marijuana at some point in thier lifetimes.  That middle school statistics breaks down to 10.6% of 6th graders, 14.8% of 7th graders, and 24.6% of 8th graders have used marijuana at least once.  In 2003, Federal agencies eradicated a total of 2,984 marijuana plants and seized 2,394.1 kilograms of marijuana.

Mississippi\'s need for club drug addiction treatment:  LSD and MDMA (ecstasy) are distributed and used in and around local nightclubs, at rave parties, and on college campuses.  GHB, Rohypnol, and ketamine (Special K) are not as prevelant or used in the state compared to Ecstasy.  5.8% of Mississippi high school students have used MDMA at least once in their lifetime and in 2004 Federal agencies seized 2,252 tablets of MDMA in Mississippi.  Teen club drug abuse will continue to rise as drug trafficking patterns indicate Mississippi as the preferred method of transporting illegal drugs into the state.  As this pattern contines to incline,  club drug addiction treatment is needed.
