Missouri\s need for drug rehab:  During the full year of 2004, there were 18,438 arrests for possession of marijuana and 9,822 from January to July of 2005.  In 2004, the Missouri State Highway Patrol made 351 arrests for driving while under the influence of illicit drugs and the Drug Enforcement Administration have made a total of 3,760 drug arrests between 2000-2004.  During 2004, there were 253,542 offenses that were drug-related in the entire state of Missouri.  These numbers clearly indicate there is a need for drug rehab programs in Missouri.

Missouri\'s need for cocaine addiction treatment:  Crack cocaine remains readily available in all urban areas of Missouri and there is a need for cocaine addiction treatment.  Mexican poly-drug trafficking organizations control the majority of the cocaine distribution in Missouri.  Organizations with ties to Texas and California continue to traffic cocaine and heroin into Missouri.  There is a total of 19.1% of the population in Missouri who have abused either crack or cocaine at least once in their lifetime.  This also breaks down into 5.4% of 9th graders, 7.1% of 10th and 11th graders, and 7.0% of 12th graders who have used cocaine at least once.  Approximately 253 kilograms of cocaine were seized by Federal agencies in Missouri during 2004.

Missouri\'s need for heroin drug rehab:  Mexican black tar heroin is readily available in the St. Louis area and is available on a limited basis in Kansas City.  Mexican brown heroin, Southwest Asian heroin, and South American heroin are also available in these areas, but ot a lesser extent.  1.9% of the overall population in Missouri have used heroin at least once in their lifetime and heroin drug rehab programs are needed in Missouri.

Missouri\'s need for methamphetamine addiction treatment:  mexican and locally produced methamphetamine has remaind available throughout Missouri.  Purity levels are higher for lcoally produced methamphetmaine than for methamphetamine imported from Mexico.  Methamphetamine abuse pertains to 7.1% of the Missouri population and teen methamphetamine abuse breaks down to 5.1% of 9th graders, 8.0% of 10th graders, 6.6% of 11th graders, and 5.0% of 12th graders who have used methamphetamine at least once.  The Missouri State highway Patrol reports 2,788 methamphetamine laboratory incidents and 21.2 kilograms of methamphetamine was seized.  As this trend continues to increase, methamphetamine addiction treatment is needed in Missouri.

Missouri\'s need for marijuana drug rehab:  Marijuana is readily available throughout Missouri and marijuana grown indoors continues to increase.  based on 2002-2004 data, an average of 2,112,000 Missouri citizens aged 12 or older reported lifetime use of marijuana.  Approximately 41.3% of Missouri high school students surveyed in 2003 reported using marijuana during their lifetime and specifically, 48% of Missouri 12th graders have used marijuana at least once in their life.  As teen marijuana abuse continues to rise in Missouri, there is a great demand for marijuana drug rehab programs throughout the entire state.  Also, during 2003, more than 14,000 marijuana plants were eradicated and 2,621.6 kilograms of marijuana were seized by Federal agencies in Missouri.

Missouri\'s need for club drug addiction treatment:  MDMA (Ecstasy) is available at dance clubs and on colleges/university campuses throughout Missouri.  Although LSD is available throught Missouri, it is not viewed as a great drug threat.  GHB and Rohypnol are also available within the state.  Of the total teen population in Missouri, 9.7% of Missouri teens have used MDMA at least once in their lifetime and as this trend continues to increase, there is a great need for club drug addiction treatment.
